What is an Altcoin and what are Stablecoins?
Bitcoin was the very first cryptocurrency and was created in 2009. Due to the fact that Bitcoin is open-source, other developers began to take parts of the Bitcoin code to create their own cryptocurrencies (such as Litecoin or Dogecoin). These coins and tokens are referred to as Altcoins. The cryptocurrency term Altcoin is an acronym for alternative coin.
The cryptocurrency market is also known for its high volatility. In order to provide users with price stability, various projects have specialized in the development of so-called Stablecoins. A Stablecoin (such as Tether, BUSD or UST) is a crypto coin or token which is pegged to a stable FIAT reserve asset such as the euro, yen or the U.S. dollar.
